In the last decade, China has emerged as a major development partner for many countries, a trend that is reshaping the international aid landscape as traditional Western donors adjust their engagement in various regions and sectors. This shift raises important questions for Swedish and European development policy: How might China fill gaps left by traditional providers? How can development effectiveness be maintained and recipient-country priorities respected in a multipolar aid environment? Where can Swedish aid have the greatest impact?
Increased knowledge of China’s global ambitions and influence is crucial to understanding its role as a multilateral actor. To reduce this knowledge gap, EBA is launching an anthology focusing on China as an development actor and its importance for Sweden and Swedish development cooperation.
The anthology consists of 14 chapters written by a number of authors. Topics that are covered include China as a multilateral actor, environmental issues and the green transition, aid for trade, innovation and digitalisation, and China’s influence on international norms.
Welcome to register for the launch of EBA´s new anthology and expand your knowledge about China as a global development actor. The program will offer presentations by several of the authors, as well as a highly qualified panel of experts on China and international development cooperation.
Finally, we will round off the day with mingle and snacks.
To ensure a broad and balanced audience, the organizers reserve the right to limit the number of seats allocated to each organization.
