The ultimate purpose of development cooperation is to reduce poverty. In slogans and high profiled speeches, the international community aims to “leave no one behind”.
Many of those living in poverty also belong to discriminated against groups. Anti-discrimination measures and programs are key to helping people escape poverty. Still, not enough is known about what works in anti-discrimination.
In collaboration with Sida, the EBA organizes a Sweden launch of the Fourth Chronic Poverty Report. The report argues that ‘Growth from Above’ must be balanced against ‘Growth from Below’ for effective poverty reduction. On the same occasion a new EBA report on anti-discrimination will be launched, “Impact of Civil Society Anti-Discrimination Initiatives”. By summarizing existing knowledge on civil society anti-discrimination programs, the report suggests improvements and points out where more knowledge is needed.
