China as a climate finance provider

Jiayi Zhou, senior researcher in the Conflict, Peace and Security Programme at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), has written a chapter in EBA’s anthology, “China as a Global Development Actor: Transforming the International Aid Landscape”. In the clip below, she discusses her chapter, “The greening of development? China in an era of global climate (in)action”.

In the text, Jiayi Zhou examines how China’s climate finance to developing countries has evolved and where it is heading – at a time when traditional donors are scaling back both their climate efforts and their aid. She discusses what China’s growing role means for recipient countries, for donors such as Sweden, and for the green development finance system as a whole.
