Democracy is under threat in many parts of the world. The degree of authoritarianism is in the rise in many countries. One indication is that electoral processes increasingly are misused and corrupted. Democracies cannot exist without free and fair elections.
Democracy support has during many years included the support to elections and electoral processes as a key component. The effects from such support is not fully clear. How to design electoral support to achieve positive effects? This study aims at mapping what leading expertise and practitioners have learned during the last few decades, with the purpose of drawing lessons for the future.
